Have you ever found yourself surrounded by people and yet felt completely alone? Perhaps you have spent much of your life feeling different, misunderstood or somehow on the outside, even among people you know well. You may have become very good at adapting to other people's expectations, keeping your feelings to yourself or trying to fit into relationships where you have never felt entirely comfortable. Sometimes these experiences are difficult to explain, particularly when, from the outside, everything appears perfectly normal.
Our sense of belonging is often influenced by our earliest relationships, our family dynamics and the experiences that have shaped our understanding of ourselves. We may carry feelings of rejection, exclusion or not being good enough long into adulthood, without recognising how much they continue to affect our friendships, intimate relationships and choices. I work with people to understand these patterns, including the ways we protect ourselves emotionally, the roles we have learned to occupy and the beliefs about ourselves that may no longer serve us. Sometimes a sense of disconnection develops following bereavement, relationship breakdown, significant life changes or simply the gradual realisation that we have lost touch with who we really are.
Together, we can explore where your feelings of not belonging began and how those experiences have influenced your relationships and the choices you make. Sometimes we discover that patterns established within our families continue to affect us decades later, even when we believe we have moved beyond them. Understanding these connections can help you recognise what needs to change, establish healthier boundaries and develop a greater sense of belonging without compromising who you are.
I am right here.
